President CEO
Taiwan External Trade Development Council
Taiwan’s sporting goods industry has evolved over the years. Many small- to medium-sized sporting goods
businesses have been formed since the late 1970s. They have intensified market competition, elevated product
quality, and improved product transformation. And with the success of Taiwan in various fields of information
technology (IT) and in electronic innovation, many local sporting goods manufacturers have significant
improved their lines of products.
Taiwan’s established supply chain services also help ensure sound production and sales of sporting goods.
Owing to such advantages, domestic manufacturers in the industry have been able to develop products with
superb materials and technologies, which in turn helped them to become some of the most sought-after
suppliers in the global sporting goods market today.
The Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (TSMA) is regarded as one of the leading trade
institutions in the local sporting goods industry. It has made great efforts in bringing locally designed sporting
goods to the world market. TSMA also has been a strong partner of the Taiwan External Trade Development
Council (TAITRA). Together, we have successfully organized major trade and procurement exhibitions such as
TaiSPO and DiWaS, both of which have helped build one-stop shopping solutions in Asia for all kinds of sporting
goods.
I firmly believe that through this latest edition of the TSMA Yearbook the global sporting goods importers will be
updated on the new developments in the Taiwan sporting goods industry. So on behalf of TAITRA, I would like
to extend my warmest congratulations to TSMA on the release of its latest publication.
