TSMA Profile

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (TSMA) is established in 1972 by 16 Taiwanese sports

racket manufacturers. Over the years, more Taiwanese sporting goods manufacturers or companies

join TSMA. By October 2015, the number of the members is more than 330. As the most representative

organization of the sporting goods industry in Taiwan, TSMA major works including collecting trade

information, export promotion by participating in international sport shows with Taiwan-made quality

image, providing information on industrial enhancement policies and resources, providing overseas

investment information, publicizing government policies and resources on intellectual property and

trademark protection and preventing from counterfeiting, and environmental protection, etc.

TSMA members is mainly divided into group: one is Full Membership which is limited to government-

licensed sporting-equipment manufacturers; the other, Associate Membership is offered to qualified

sporting goods traders, trade news media, government trade promotion agencies and trade legal

consultants.

Under the structure of TSMA, there are eight sport product divisions, four committees, two clubs and

a secretariat. The divisions aim to exchange market or trade information. And the four committees are

expected to collect information about trade promotions, international affairs, international trade shows,

ASEAN development and market news, and so on. And the secretariat takes charge of membership,

domestic and international trade show plan, internal meetings as well as other administrative works, etc.

On the international stage, TSMA has been an inaugural member of the World Federation of Sporting

Goods Industry (WFSGI) since its establishment. WFSGI is a world authoritative body for the sporting

goods industry in Switzerland. Dr. George Wood, as the Honorary President of TSMA, is now representing

WFSGI Asian Board. Apart from WFSGI, TSMA is also a member of The Sports & Fitness Industry

Association (SFIA) which is the most authoritative sports & fitness association in the U.S. SFIA has a great

number of leading sports and fitness brands, suppliers, retailers and partners home and abroad. With

most efforts, TSMA continues playing a good role on the international platforms, providing timely and

updated information to all members and the sporting goods industry in Taiwan. More importantly, TSMA

will be dedicated to building good images for Taiwan-made sporting goods.
