The reason is that so many economic activities nowadays are carried out by cross industries rather than one single industry. Business Ecosystem which Moore refers to is broad in his work (1996), covers enterprises, client, suppliers, key producers, competitors and other interested parties. The following diagram is the business ecosystem diagram brought up by Moore in 1998. It is clear to see the scope of business ecosystem.
