34 2026 TSMA The Profile Founded in 1972, the Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (TSMA) serves as a leading representative body for Taiwan’s sporting goods industry, comprising approximately 300 member enterprises. The Association plays a central role in connecting local manufacturers with government agencies, global industry organizations such as the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) and the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA), and other trade fair organizers. Over the past five decades, TSMA has actively supported its members in expanding into overseas markets through participation in major global exhibitions, such as TaiSPO, FIBO, ISPO, Japan Sports Week, SPORTEC, etc. The Association also provides comprehensive industry intelligence, including quarterly market updates through Sports Impact (in Mandarin) and the annual English sourcing guide TSMA Sourcing Directory, designed specifically for international buyers. In addition, TSMA publishes detailed annual statistical reports on Taiwan’s sporting goods imports and exports, categorized by product type and destination market. In response to the rapid digital transformation and acceleration of AI applications in the post-pandemic era, TSMA continues to assist its members in leveraging government-funded innovation resources and digital upgrade programs. Sports technology has emerged as a major area of strategic interest, and TSMA actively promotes industry awareness through research, seminars, and expert publications. Another major initiative under TSMA is the Taiwan S-Team Elite League, established in 2011 by Mr. Peter Lo, CEO of Johnson Health Tech Co., Ltd. This alliance of leading fitness equipment manufacturers focuses on fostering operational excellence through lean production, knowledge exchange, and international benchmarking tours, with the objective of strengthening Taiwan’s competitiveness in global R&D and manufacturing. TSMA is also a founding member of the WFSGI, the governing body recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the primary industry representative within the Olympic Movement. TSMA Honorary President Mr. Paul Yang currently serves as a member of the WFSGI Board of Directors in the Asian Region, actively representing Taiwan’s interests and contributing to global policy discussions. Furthermore, Dr. George Wood, a long-standing supporter of the global sporting goods community, serves as a Lifetime Honorary Board Member of the WFSGI, reflecting his enduring contributions and continued engagement with the Federation. In addition, TSMA maintains strong engagement with SFIA in the United States, participating in its activities and promoting Taiwan’s sporting goods industry on the international stage.
