2025 TSMA Mr. Jeff Chen President, Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (TSMA) 01 理事長序 With the rapid development of technology, the sports industry is undergoing a digital revolution. Emerging technologies such as smart fitness equipment, wearable devices, and connected fitness platforms are changing the way we exercise and manage health, ushering in a new era of healthy living. From January to August 2024, the total export value of sports goods from our country to the global market was approximately $1.2 billion. Although this is slightly lower than in 2023, the demand for sports goods in the global market remains stable, especially in major markets such as the United States, mainland China, and Japan, where fitness equipment and water sports products have shown strong growth trends. The sports technology sector is growing rapidly, with the global sports technology market size expected to grow from $160.9 billion in 2023 to $215.5 billion by 2028, with a compound annual growth rate of approximately 5.86%. The global market for AI applications in the sports sector is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 28.72%, with investments in the sports data analytics market expected to reach $4.5 billion by 2025. The application of technology not only enhances the functionality of fitness equipment but also improves the user experience. According to a survey by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the top 20 global fitness trends for 2024 include various smart fitness equipment and wearable devices. The latest technology trends in fitness equipment include AI technology, built-in sensors, VR and AR technology, as well as smartwatches and fitness trackers. Connected fitness platforms offer online courses, coaching, and community support. These trends

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association reflect the major concerns on health and fitness in our modern society, and as technology advances, emerging fitness methods and tools are gradually becoming mainstream. The industry is also exploring the integration of AI into the health insurance card system to improve the efficiency of national health management. This innovative proposal includes establishing national standards, certifying health check-up units and fitness equipment, and directly uploading personal health data through the national health insurance card interface. AI technology will be used to dynamically assess individual health status and provide customized exercise prescriptions. This not only promotes health awareness and the development of preventive medicine but also brings economic vitality to medical testing units while encouraging citizens to actively participate in their health management. With the government support and resources, if this system can be successfully implemented, it will be an important demonstration of Taiwan’s technological and sports expertise. Our association is committed to serving and promoting the industry as its main mission, advocating for the cultivation of nationwide exercise habits. In the face of rapidly changing global business, we continue to assist businesses in transitioning to digital operations and provide recommendations to the government for policies that optimize the connection of the sports industry and promote economic development through nationwide health policies. This initiative not only expands the domestic market for sports goods, bringing them closer to user groups, but also leverages the characteristics of digital technology to assist the government in promoting policies that address the needs of the public in health, disease prevention, or rehabilitation. At the same time, we are dedicated to integrating cross-industry sports platforms, gathering massive cloud data, assisting Taiwanese manufacturers in expanding exports, and most importantly, promoting the high-quality image of Made in Taiwan (MIT) products.

2025 TSMA 02 國貿署序 Ms. Cynthia Kiang Director General, International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs ( TITA ), Taiwan R.O.C. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Taiwanese athletes brought glory to our country with their outstanding performances, reflecting the achievements of Taiwan’s longterm support for sports and physical fitness. The performances of these exceptional athletes not only demonstrated their personal competitive spirit but also showcased Taiwan’s prowess in the fields of sports science and sporting goods. Indeed, it is noteworthy that Taiwan-made sporting goods are not only used in the Olympic Games but also play an important role in renowned international competitions like the World Cup. Whether it be sports equipment, sporting apparel, or outdoor gear, Taiwan’s sporting goods are widely favored by athletes and event organizations worldwide because of their innovative designs and excellent quality. Consequently, they have become a compelling dynamic for global market supplies. In order to help Taiwanese businesses grasp opportunities to grow their global markets, the International Trade Administration (TITA) actively promotes diverse plans to expand sales, such as organizing groups to attend overseas exhibitions, inviting international buyers to come to Taiwan for procurements, strengthening channels for overseas marketing, and upgrading the international image of Taiwan’s brands. These measures effectively enhance the visibility and competitiveness of Taiwanese products, while creating more business opportunities for enterprises.

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association In addition, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) manages the selections for the “Taiwan Excellence” products every year, utilizing the highest criteria to select the most innovative products with the best quality. It also makes use of “Taiwan Excellence” as a common brand for innovative and worthy products in order to enable the international marketing of Taiwan’s sporting good brands. This year, “Taiwan Excellence” has participated in various well-known international competitions and professional exhibitions to reach out to important buyers and media overseas; particularly, the Tour de Taiwan, the EUROBIKE press conference, the Dubai Active Show, etc. “Taiwan Excellence” has also engaged in virtual or real promotions, such as live online podcasts and digital advertisements, to market the superb image of Taiwan’s sports and fitness industry. I believe such endeavors will create more business opportunities for Taiwanese enterprises. The Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association (TSMA) is one of the most representative industrial group domestically. It has long made outstanding contributions to promote Taiwan’s sporting goods. 26 2025 TSMA 03 產發署 Mr. Chih-Ching Yang Director-General, Industrial Development Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs, MOEA, Taiwan R.O.C. From Health Tech to Green Sports: Technology Leading New Trends in the Sports Industry The 2024 Paris Olympics concluded amidst global cheers, once again sparking a wave of enthusiasm for sports, which fueled a surge in demand for sports activities and stimulated significant growth in the global sports industry. According to forecasts from the research firm Statista, the global sports equipment market is expected to generate a total revenue of US$171.6 billion in 2024, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.86% from 2024 to 2028. This demonstrates the impressive growth of the international market. After the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a heightened global awareness of health, outdoor living, and sports, especially in light of the international trend towards net-zero sustainable development. Additionally, aging societies are driving increased demand for smart sports equipment for the elderly, while the post-Olympics fitness boom is highlighting the urgent need for the sports industry to embrace technological transformation and sustainability.

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association In recent years, sports technology has continued to thrive, with advancements in sensor technology, IoT, DataTech, cloud computing, AI, and 5G enhancing the value and experience of sports. Statista also estimates that the global sports technology market will exceed US$30 billion in 2024, underscoring the significant financial investments and technological progress in the field. Applications of discriminative AI and generative AI on fitness platforms and in digital sports analysis are becoming key focuses. These technologies, driven by deep machine learning, can analyze and optimize sports strategies, predict outcomes, and even design personalized training programs for athletes. Furthermore, Taiwan’s impressive performance in international sports events underscores the importance of data integration and video analysis. Coaches can use real-time data to prevent injuries, improve performance, and make tactical adjustments during competitions, providing greater flexibility and competitive advantages. This growing trend of smart and personalized sports technology is driving the entire industry forward. Not only is it introducing new business models, it also suggests that the potential for growth in the sports technology sector is boundless. The global trend towards sustainability is accelerating the transformation of Taiwan’s sports industry. In March of 2022, the National Development Council issued the Taiwan 2050 Net Zero Emissions Pathway and Strategy Report, and with the recent advocacy for green Olympics, Taiwan has the opportunity to actively contribute to the sustainable development of sports events. For example, future international events held in Taiwan will adopt eco-friendly materials and low-carbon designs, while data analytics and AI technologies will be used to optimize sports performance, reducing https://www.freepik.com/

The government’s net-zero strategy for the sports industry, combined with Taiwan’s technological research and development potential, will create more opportunities for the sports sector, showcasing Taiwan’s commitment to green sports and leadership on the global stage. Additionally, as Taiwan moves towards an aging society, the government is actively promoting policies such as “AgeTech” and “Big Health”, applying smart health management technologies to the sports industry and driving the intelligent development of fitness and health management. Through wearable devices and health monitoring platforms, elderly individuals can track their health data in real time during exercise, enabling preventive health management and improving overall public health. The Big Health policy also emphasizes comprehensive physical and mental care, encouraging the integration of technological innovation with sports to provide safer and more effective exercise solutions for the aging population, achieving the health management goal of “prevention over treatment.” With global health awareness on the rise, the demand for smart fitness solutions is growing rapidly. Leveraging its strong ICT industry foundation, Taiwan plays a critical role in the global supply chain. In recent years, the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Development Administration has been committed to promoting intelligent and digital industrial solutions, as well as guiding the adoption of low-carbon technologies. Through cross-sector collaboration, sports technology applications, and innovative business models, Taiwan aims to enhance the value of its domestic sports industry, stimulate the growth of sports technology, and expand its influence in the global market.

2025 TSMA 1. WFSGI Mrs. Emma P. (Mason) Zwiebler President & CEO, The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry wfsgi.org 2024 has been a momentous year for sport, reaching incredible highs thanks to the unforgettable Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It’s also been an exciting year for the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) as we successfully started to bring to life our new strategic plan thanks to unprecedented collaboration from across the breadth of our membership. Last year when I addressed TSMA members for the first time I shared the four key priorities in our strategic plan and in the top spot was our goal to increase levels of physical activity via the implementation of our historic Memorandum of Understanding with the World Health Organisation (WHO). I’m proud to say that thanks to the incredible support from our members and fellow trade associations, including the TSMA, we brought together 48 of the world’s biggest sporting goods brands and sports and fitness federations to issue our very first Joint Industry Statement on Physical Inactivity following the publication of the latest adult figures from the WHO.

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association The joint statement signatories called for urgent and coordinated action to address the growing physical inactivity crisis which saw the number of inactive adults rise to 31% in 2024 – that’s 1.8 billion adults not doing enough exercise to stay healthy. Our members and supporting federations used their voices to shine a light on this growing crisis and committed to a number of actions to promote physical activity across their work. Supporting the world to move more is now part of their agendas too and in 2025 we will be sharing the results of some of those commitments as well as turning our attention to addressing the soon to be released adolescent physical inactivity numbers from the WHO. The cost of standing still on this topic and doing nothing is just too high both from a public health perspective and an industry perspective. As we move into 2025, we look forward to continuing to work with TSMA on the topic of physical activity and to push forward our other priority areas of ESG, Trade, Compliance, and International Sport as we passionately live our purpose to unite and support the global sporting goods industry to ensure a healthier, more active planet for all.

2025 TSMA 2. SFIA Mr. Todd Smith President & CEO, Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) State of the US Industry While there are many factors that affect the profitability and sustainability of the sports and fitness industry, the foundation is always in physical activity. The general rule abides: the more people are moving, playing, working out, and competing, the more likely it is our industry will be robust and growing. And the news here is positive. In 2023, the number of Americans who participated in at least one of the 124 sports and activities we track reached its highest point ever. Since 2018, the number of participating Americans increased by 23.5 million, representing 78.8% of the American population age 6 and above. This is a significant improvement from the previous decade, when the comparable number of actives hovered around 73% of the population for several years in a row. Even better is the number of CORE participants has also increased five years in a row. CORE is a key SFIA frequency measurement that indicates a committed player/enthusiast, and fundamentally captures those most likely to be a consumer, fan, and returning participant.

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association Further, all seven of the major activity categories increased participation rates in 2023. Team Sports continued its strong comeback from the pandemic period, adding a remarkable 8 million new team sports participants in 2023, after having clawed back to pre-pandemic numbers in 2022. We see a similar positive trend in fitness activities and health club memberships. Racquet sports too maintained healthy growth, fueled not only by pickleball’s now widely recognized explosion (up 223% in three years, 13.6 million total players in 2023) but also healthy tennis participation trends working from an already sizable base. Golf is leveraging non-traditional ways to play, such as off-course entertainment/golf venues and high-tech simulators, to draw new participants while not cannibalizing on-course play. This reflects a notable trend in participation, namely growth from nontraditional ways of playing traditional sports: Topgolf, cardio tennis, small sided soccer games, and female flag football. SFIA is also tracking key influences we see affecting the future of sports participation. From the “Caitlin Clark effect” to burgeoning professional leagues in women’s soccer, hockey, and volleyball, to inflow investments from private equity, we may be at an inflection point for girls and women’s sports in America. Can the sports industry and broader stakeholder community welcome this new attention and deliver the grass roots participation experiences girls and women will expect in the future? The evolution of female athletes further creates long term opportunities for the fitness industry. After finishing competitive youth/high school sports, this cohort represents a massive opportunity for deep, lifetime engagement with health clubs and boutiques. Also, the United States will host a bevy of global sports events – from the Copa America and ICC Cricket World Cup in 2024, to the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 2026, and the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028. SFIA’s long term analysis of the “Olympic Bounce” impact on participation

2025 TSMA suggests these global events in our country can offer a generational opportunity to drive sampling and create new players in a variety of sports. In 2023, industry sales grew 4.2%, against 4.3 % the previous year. While these numbers pale in comparison to record growth in 2021 (15.8%) and the dramatic slowdown of 2020 (0.6%), they compare favorably to the 2010-2019 decade, during which industry revenues averaged only 2.9% annual growth. The number of companies reporting increases in profitability rose in 2023, while those indicating a lower year-over-year profit level dipped to 18.2% of respondents, the lowest such number since 2019. The industry made critically important progress in managing inventory. After spiking to the highest level in nine years in 2022, with more than twothirds of companies reporting higher inventories at year-end, only 33 percent of companies faced increased inventories at close of 2023. In terms of major concerns our companies faced going into 2024, big picture economic issues around potential recession, inflation, and slower consumer spending loomed large. But that said, the top concern cited by companies was their need to increase market share. Encouraging are the survey responses from industry executives regarding their attitude about the future of the sports and fitness industry. More than 78% of all respondents saw the future as “strong” (vs average or weak), compared to only 49.6% responding strong in 2018 and less than 60% in 2019. In summary, our industry was whipsawed by the unprecedented disruptions caused by the pandemic, but we also benefitted then and now by Americans’ increased appreciation for the benefits of physical activity, Desire to engage in sports and fitness remains high. We find ourselves today buoyed by sustaining demand but keeping close eye on macroeconomic factors such as inflation and its impact on our consumers’ buying power and priorities. 35 Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association Dr. Jochen M. Schaefer Legal Counsel The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry IMPORTANT TO KNOW: How May New European and German Supply Chain Law Initiatives Could Affect Taiwanese Manufacturers and Suppliers Introduction: Taiwanese sporting goods manufacturers and suppliers with customers abroad had to struggle with numerous challenges during the last few years, such as the global Covid 19 pandemic, rising inflation rates or price increases and shortages of raw materials needed for the production of sporting goods including bicycles and electronic components for variables, etc. The European lawmakers in particular at European commission and Parliament level have been tireless to come up with new regulations and directives in particular in the environmental, social and governance (“ESG”) areas. The reputed German daily newspaper Handelsblatt stated in an article published on October 16, 2024, that the EU has enacted 13,000 new laws in the past five years. while the US legislators at federal level have ‘only’ passed 5,000 laws within the same period……….

2025 TSMA Transparency throughout the whole supply chain from the sourcing of raw materials up to ready-made components and products has been and still is a buzzword, which is widely used by European and national politicians. Consequently, commercial operators, which are part of the supply chain, will have to deal with additional comprehensive obligations not only in Europe, but globally. And additional obligations come hand in hand with additional higher costs to be and remain compliant. The following article aims at shedding some light into the jungle of EU and national supply chain law provisions and to which extent these might have an effect on your business by providing some information on the current (as per October 2024) status of these two legislative measures and by at the same time highlighting some of their key differences. 1. Pieces of National German and EU Legislation in the Supply Chain Area: In recent years, the landscape of corporate responsibility has undergone significant transformation, particularly in the realm of supply chain management. Two pivotal pieces of legislation—the EU Supply Chain Directive [“ESCD”] and the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act [“GSCDDA”]—have surfaced as cornerstones in this evolution. 1.1 The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act – GSCDDA: 1.1.1 The GSCDDA*), which came into force on January 1, 2023, mandates that large German companies/ and foreign companies with German branches regardless of their legal format with more than 3,000 employees (and from this year onward also those with over 1,000 employees) are obliged to implement rigorous due diligence processes to identify, assess, and mitigate human rights and environmental risks within their sometimes very complex supply chains. Given the fact that many of these larger German and multinational companies source and purchase products, components and parts globally directly or indirectly from suppliers, which are located in so-called “high risk” countries, it is quite obvious that this new law has a considerable impact on sourcing and purchasing strategies of these commercial operators. *) An English language version thereof can be found on the following web site: https://www.csr-in-

Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association deutschland.de/EN/Business-Human-Rights/SupplyChain-Act/supply-chain-act.html 1.1.2 The term“human rights risk”, which triggers the application of the German supply chain act is defined in Section 2 of the GSCDDA in a very broad manner and covers illegal practices from child labor used in the course of the manufacturing of a certain product, the use of persons in forced labor, unsafe working conditions up to prohibitions or undue restrictions of the freedom of association of employees and workers, up to unequal treatment in employment, practices preventing an adequate living wage, damaging environmental manufacturing processes up to a disregard of safety requirements and other similar activities or omissions. 1.1.3 The way how the German legislator is looking at commercial supply chains is as broad as the human risk definition. It reflects a complete cradle to grave approach starting from the extraction of raw materials up to the delivery of the finished product to the final purchaser. 1.1.4 Furthermore, the GSCDDA requires those companies, which are caught by its law provisions to establish a highly comprehensive due diligence, risk management and risk analysis system, which inevitably leads to a substantially increased amount of bureaucratic burdens of the private sector and as a matter of course also leads to substantially higher cost administrating this system either in-house or with the help of external advisors. Details can be found in sections 3 to 9 of the GSCDDA. Companies must among others conduct regular risk analyzes, establish a scheme of efficient preventive measures, implement remedial actions and the establishment of complaint mechanisms plus the obligation to regularly document and report the respective company’s supply chain management practices. 1.1.5 Supply chains in the 21st century are often quite diversified and include several layers of direct and also indirect suppliers. The obligations to monitor the commercial activities of indirect suppliers are less strict compared to those towards a direct supplier, nevertheless indirect suppliers are not exempt from the application of the GSCDDA. 1.1.6 Very much summarized, the German Supply Chain Act puts its emphasis on the following nine prime due diligence obligations: (1) The establishment of an adequate and also efficient risk management system covering all operational activities of a company in the supply chain field; (2) To carry out on an annual basis a risk analysis relating a company’s own commercial activities and those of its direct suppliers. Such annual exercise must be complemented by an ad hoc analysis, if a company becomes aware of or expects a significant change of risk factors
