When the proportion of the elderly population in the total population reaches 7%, it is referred to as an “aging society.”When it reaches 14%, it becomes an “aged society.” If it reaches 20% or more, it is classified as a “super-aged society.” According to the “Population Projection for the Republic of China (2018 to 2065)” report by the National Development Council, Taiwan’s proportion of elderly population exceeded 7% in 1993, marking the transition into an aging society.
