59 analyze gait and give analysis with 26 gait parameters and 16 running parameters, including stride, cadence, stance phase and swing phase timing, heel strike and heel off angles, lower extremity stiffness, impact loading, left and right leg symmetry, etc. The system can offer clinical doctors instant and objective figures. Then, doctors can read these data to give evaluations and sports advice. It can also help patients to carry out inspections at home. Therefore, the doctors can follow the data changes of the distance care patients and realize the home training and efficiency. Walking and running are extremely regular and repetitive movements. Once there is asymmetric problem over a long period, it is easy to cause chronic injuries. To observe the symmetry of walking and running gait can help prevent from chronic injuries, also brings significant values to evaluate the symmetry recovery after injuries. The research team of innovative sports technology at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) once carried out related studies and discussed the position of sensors which detects gait asymmetry and kinematics parameters. As shown in the research results, inertial measurement unit (IMU) can measure gait asymmetry and its position on lateral region of lower limbs would be proper. And the acceleration of landing and changing angles would be indicators to monitor running asymmetry. Furthermore, the team also applied wearable devices in outdoor activity and measures the changing Picture 1: GaitUP Clinical Evaluation System Source: Gait UP’s official website
