It is to use wearable devices to achieve the long-distance medical home care, rehabilitation and preventive healthcare management so as to reduce the time and medical cost for the patients who usually traveled to big hospitals to receive medical evaluations and rehabilitation. Especially when the pandemic of COVID-19 outbreaks in the rent months, we can use wearable devices to instantly follow the then health conditions of the public, prevent diseases and assist rehabilitation. Therefore, people can reduce the risk to be exposed in the danger of COVID-19. Take two major brands of smart watches as examples, Apple and Samsung both already expands the markets of wearable devices to health and medical care fields. Both smart watches already developed multiple functions such as measuring oxygen saturation of arterial blood (SpO2), electrocardiogram (ECG) and inspecting falling down and so on. Samsung, ahead of Apple, make the first step to measure blood pressure. Taking the next step, Apple on its official website issues a press release: Apple Watch with iPhone sensor, can detect the heart rate, walking speed, fast walking frequency, pace distance and the 6-minute walking distance and other data. In the future, it can be applied to supervising the healthcare of the elderly patients and provide far-distance health cares. What’s more, now Apple is cooperating with Zimmer Biomet, an orthopedic medical device company, to conduct a clinical research to expand the far-distance medical care applications of iPhone and Apple Watch, including all kinds of guidelines or instructions on their surgery preparation period, recovery period, and rehabilitation period. It is not difficult to foresee the wearable devices are expanding their applications to the health and medical fields sooner or later.
