87 The key technology and application ranges in the sports and health service industry In the coming five years, in the sports service industry there will be disrupting and revolutionary technology including the Artificial Intelligence (AI), Remote Monitoring, Wearables, Internet of Things (IoT), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), 3D Printing, Smart Materials and so on. In the 2018 CES study reports, we also find the similar conclusions and sum up the technology applications of the sports and health industry into four directions as followed. Able to quantify the sports and health conditions Moving with the technology progress of wearables and the Internet of Things, the products to record and evaluate the user’s sports effects have become mature. IoT sports devices are already one of the important items in the vertical industrial value chain. The EU Commission estimate in 2021 the total sales of the sports devices will achieve 253 million Euros. And the potential market value is more than 37 billion Euros. According to the application environment and services modes, they can be divided into the common type of IoT devices or the specific purpose of IoT devices. The descriptions are as followed. 1. The common type of IoT devices It refers to all kinds of wearable devices such as the smart watches, physiologic monitoring bracelet, etc. They are designed to collect all data, inspecting physiologic conditions and developing health advice. In other words, they can provide the evaluations on sports effectiveness and sports advice to prevent from sports injuries and other services. To quantify health is the major reason that the wearables devices have the unshakable place in the sports and health service industry. Especially in the modern times, people love to run.
