The final goal is to do sports three to seven days per week; that is, do sports every day for 30 to 60 minutes. The total weekly sports time is at least 150 minutes at the medium intensity. That is 49 to 59 of the heart rate reserve (HRR) or 12 to 13 grades in the Borg RPE Scale, that is, while doing sports, people can speak half of a sentence in one breath, 5 to 10 words. As to the resistance training, with focus on the long-sitting beginner and the elderly people, they can start from twice a week, 40% to 60% of the maximum hosting load, 6 movements as one set, 16 to 20 times for one movement. Begin with one set. With the growing muscular resistance, they shall be able to make progress in four to six months. Then the training frequency shall be added to three days a week and the sports intensity shall be enhanced up to 60% to 80% of the maximum hosting load, 8 movements as one set, 8 to 12 times for one movement. When the patients who have high blood pressure carry on the sports trainings, they shall pay attentions to the following conditions. Hypertensive crisis: In order to make sure of the security of sports training, American Council on Exercise (ACE) suggests the patients with high blood pressure should measure their blood pressure. And when the rest pressure is more than 200/110 mmHg, the patients shall not do sports. And when they are doing sports, their blood pressure is more than 220/105 mmHg; they shall stop the training right away. When they are taking trainings and feel the chest pain, severe headache, blurred vision, changing consciousness, feeling sick and would like vomit, or other symptoms related to high blood pressure, they must stop their trainings right away and also take their blood pressure. If the symptoms are still the same after some rest, or their blood pressure is more than 200/110 mmHg, the patients shall be sent to the hospital for immediate treatment. Besides, holding breaths might lead the blood pressure and brain pressure to go upward and worsen the original illness which they have had. Therefore, while in sports trainings, people should take preventive measures. Always remember not to hold breaths in the training process. Blood pressure is too low: According to the instructions of ACE, after sports, the systolic and diastolic blood pressure both go down. And this is so-called Post-Exercise Hypotension (PEH). Once the patients take anti-hypertensive agent, the effect will be stronger and easily results in hypotension. And the patients have to know about this and shall be very cautious.
