29 Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association Championships, the 2018 Asian Games, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, have expanded the scope of sports popularity around the world. In Taiwan, the government is taking advantage of the massive attention to the 2017 Universiade and Swinging Skirts LPGA Championship to promote a sports vibe, encouraging more youngsters to take part in sports events. The government is even more proac- tively holding a series of seminar courses, lectures by international experts, and presentations on cross-field matchmaking results to allow the public and businesses to better understand sports events, as well as expanding the image of sports industries and economic benefits. Data from the Department of Statistics of the Ministry of Economic Affairs shows that Taiwan’s sports industry has seen NTD44 billion dollars in annual production value in 2017, or a 3.17% annual increase. It is also the sixth consecutive year where the sports industry has seen increases in produc- tion values. Within the industry, indoor fitness equipment has seen its production value reach NTD20.1 billion dollars, or a 1.08% annual increase, as well as the fifth consecutive year where the pro- duction value has grown every year. Statistical data from the Ministry of Finance also shows that the number of businesses in overall sports services in- creased from 1,462 in 2013 to 1,835 in 2016, while in 2017 the number surpassed 2,040. In terms of revenue, it increased from NTD20.69 billion dollars to NTD24.16 billion dollars in 2017. Of the figures, the number of fitness centers and fitness clubs grew continuously from 131 in 2011 to 369 in 2017, an indication of the widespread popularity of the idea of fitness and a strong growth momentum. As a response to the fitness vibe, the market has adapted and introduced diversified fitness centers and specifically targeted certain customers, such as female customers, senior customers, and children. Even convenience stores have joined the compe- tition for market share. Ever since Family Mart in Japan opened a fitness center called “FIT & GO” in Tokyo in February of 2018, 7-Eleven in Taiwan also opened the first-ever “7-ELEVEN X BEING fit sports
