27 Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association Outdoor and fitness equipment made in Taiwan (MIT) are continuing to enjoy world-wide recognition besides being highly favored by international buyers. This is evident from the sustained growth in exports of Taiwan’s sporting goods, which in 2017 amounted to US$1.76 billion. The Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Associ- ation (TSMA) is the most representative of sporting goods associations in Taiwan, with a history of over 40 years and a membership more than 300. The TSMA encourages physical fitness and organizes delega- tions to attend international exhibitions to promote MIT products. Furthermore, in assisting businesses expand their markets, the TSMA also offers updated market and industry information while bridging com- munication between the government and industry. Recognition of its achievements in facilitating indus- try development is well deserved. Helping businesses expand into international Jen-Ni Yang Director General Bureau of Foreign Trade markets is the primary work of the BOFT. Through promotional activities at home and abroad, the BOFT helps businesses compete for orders by building their export capacity and elevating the industry’s international reputation. Since “sports” is a universal language, “sports marketing” enables sporting goods brands to connect with consumers so that they also come to love Taiwanese products through their love of sports. The BOFT endeavors to continue support- ing sports marketing activities in order to elevate our international visibility. The Sporting Goods Yearbook, compiled by the TSMA, offers an ideal channel for foreign buyers who seek to purchase Taiwanese sporting goods. Its con- tents provide reliable information on suppliers and world-renowned Taiwanese sporting brands. I am confident that this Yearbook will continue to create business opportunities and propel quality Taiwanese products throughout the world.
