TSMA Yearbook 2019

43 Taiwan Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association crease aggressively • Artistic Gymnastics: advanced control of one’s body, increased self-esteem • Cycling: aerobic activity with high energy con- sumption, increased capacity for road use • Volleyball-Basket: development of physical and technical skills and group tactics, better capability to collaborate with others • Football – Rugby: development of physical and technical skills, teach character education based on teamwork and respect Conclusion I think it is very important to the sports equipment producers and sports services companies to bring the children and adolescents closer and together with specific and appealing products. The electronics industry could stimulate a great mo- tivation to the practice of physical activities and sport by the electrical devices and applications. It could push the young people to confront with their peers. A rich and easy access to green spaces in urban cit- ies will be great further help. To conclude, I fully agree with the recommendations of the WHO (World Health Organization): For children and young people, physical activity in- cludes play, games, sports, transportation, chores, rec- reation, physical education, or planned exercise, in the context of family, school, and community activities. The appropriate practice of physical activity assists young people to: • develop healthy musculoskeletal tissues (i.e. bones, muscles and joints); • develop a healthy cardiovascular system (i.e. heart and lungs); • develop neuromuscular awareness (i.e. co- ordination and movement control); • maintain a healthy body weight. Physical activity has also been associated with psychological benefits in young people by im- proving their control over symptoms of anxiety and depression. Similarly, participation in phys- ical activity can assist in the social development of young people by providing opportunities for self-expression, building self-confidence, social interaction, and integration. It has also been suggested that physically active young people more readily adopt other healthy behaviors (e.g. avoidance of tobacco, alcohol and drug use) and demonstrate higher academic performance at school.
